Yoshiaki Nakazawa, Representative Directornakazawas
Yoshiaki Nakazawa is Representative Director of AMIC K.K.

Prior to AMIC he worked with Stryker, a leader in the worldwide orthopaedic medical technology market, for more than 25 years.
Yoshiaki started his career with Stryker Corporation as intern in 1977 when he was a graduate student of Graduate School of Business, Western Michigan University and stayed at the company after obtaining the MBA in 1978. The experience in his younger days made him realize the importance of the link between the front and medical equipment.

In 1992 he moved to Pfizer Inc. and then to Schneider Japan K.K., a subsidiary of Pfizer, respectively holding several positions there including Representative Director, President and Vice President.

As a result of Pfizer’s withdrawal from the medical equipment business and the eventual transfer of Pfizer’s Howmedica to Stryker in April 1999, Yoshiaki returned to Stryker Japan K.K. as Representative Director and President. He successfully increased the company’s sales and made shortening the approval process required for foreign-made medical equipment. In 2008 he was Representative Director and Chairman and then Advisor to President of Stryker International in 2009. He made efforts for the industry’s development and the improvement of lag of devices.

Graduated from Keio University in 1974 and studied at the Western Michigan University, Michigan, U.S. and obtained BBA for Business Administration in 1976 and MBA from Graduate School of Business in 1978. He took a Program for Management Development (PMD) at the Harvard Business School, Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1991..

Hiromitsu Iwasaki, Directoriwasakis
He brings more than 40 years of expertise in the pharmaceutical industry in both Japan and worldwide and experience in the management of global pharmaceutical company.

Prior to joining AMIC, he worked with Pfizer for over 40years. In 1966 he started his career at Pfizer Taito (former Pfizer), one of the pioneers in Japan’s pharmaceutical industry. He served the company holding various positions including President (Jan/2006- Nov/2009), Executive Director (Sep/1997-Fev/2005), Managing Director and General Manager of Pharmaceutical Marketing (Mar/1993-Aug/1997), Director and General Manger of Pharmaceutical Div. (Mar/1987-Feb 1993), Manager of Nagoya Pharmaceutical Branch Office (Jun/1984-Feb/1987) and Country Manager of Hong Kong Pfizer (May/1974-Nov/1978). He also worked with Asia Management Center of Pfizer Inc. on loan from December 1978 through May 1984 and took position of Director of Pfizer Health Research Foundation in 2005 (March-December) .

He is also a venture partner of ESP Equity Partners, LLC since March 2009.

He is a graduate of Keio University, Faculty of Economics and obtained MBA from Cornell University.

Dan Thomas, Directordans
Prior to AMIC, he was a founder and principal of IVEX International. IVEX has provided strategic advisory services to U.S. technology companies in the Japanese market since 1988. Dan has worked with many leading U.S. technologies companies and established and managed highly successful Japanese subsidiaries for companies including: Chipcom, Top Layer Networks, and Cheyenne Software. Dan also has extensive investment banking experience including assignment with CS First Boston in NYC, London, and Tokyo from 1982-1986 and as Vice-President with Goldman, Sachs in Tokyo from 1986-1989.

He serves on the Board of Directors for several Japanese Subsidiaries of U.S. companies and has served as President of the Tokyo American Club. In that capacity he has extensive contacts in government and with many Japanese executives.

Dan is a graduate of Yale University. He has lived in Japan for 25 years and is fluent in Japanese.



Isao Ijuin, Auditorijuins
He brings more than 50 years of extensive legal expertise and abundant experience in pharmaceutical and chemical industry. He has served as counsel, and corporate auditor and advisor for many companies including Japanese companies and subsidiaries of foreign companies. Currently he also serves auditor for Pfizer Japan Inc. and Mitsui Chemical Inc. respectively.

After the registration as Attorney at Law in 1964, he joined Shozawa & Nagashima Office (currently Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu) and became Partner in 1975 and Advisor in 2005 (until 2009) respectively for Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu.

During this period he concurrently took several positions such as house counsel for Shell Sekiyu K.K., professor at the Sophia Law School (2004-2010), a member of Chiba University Council of Management (2004-2010) and auditor for Stryker Japan K.K. (2005-2009).

He is a graduate of Tokyo University, Faculty of Law. In 1974 he was a fellow at the University of Illinois, College of Law (M.C.L.) and worked with Cleary Tottlieb, Steen & Hamilton as stagieire.
